The first and only meat processing plant in Mizoram initiated by Dr Vanramhlimpuii, MVsc was established in 2016 with a vision to supply hygienically processed meat and meat-based products locally. It started selling meat products in June 2016, after two years of operational the firm was incubated by Mizoram University Incubation Centre and the enterprise was then incorporated as Zonu Meat Processing Pvt Ltd.

CONCEPT OF ZONU MEAT PROCESSING

Meat processing is a technology comprising the steps and procedures in the manufacturing of processed meat products. Processed meat products include various different types and local or regional variations, are food of animal origin, which contribute valuable animal proteins to human diet.

Keeping the above points in mind and to sustain the meat products in our state without importing from outside the state, ZONU MEAT PROCESSING has been set up in June, 2016. With a view that healthy, fresh and low price processed meat products can be produced within our state as all of our meat products are imported from outside the state. Zonu Meat Processing takes pride in being one of the first, if not the first to have ventured into this meat processing and have seen great demand for our products. We are trying our best to compete with imported processed meat products from outside Mizoram and to create employment opportunities for the people in the state of Mizoram.

PROPOSED PRODUCT/SERVICES:

The proposed products of our firm are primarily meat products, which are as follows;

  1. Sausage ( Pork, Beef, Chicken)
  2. Minced Meat (Beef, Chicken)
  3. Noodles
  4. Patties
  5. Nuggets
  6. Meat balls

 MARKET ARRANGMENT:

Since the start of our firm till today, we have achieved sales of Rs. 42,000 per week approximately. If we can have enough fund to expand our firm, we are trying to get minimum of Rs. 1,00,000 per week by this year. Presently, we have increased our products by supplying not only to Aizawl area; we have been started supplying our processed meat to Lunglei since last year and now we have covered other districts like, Champhai, Mamit and Kolasib. With this, we hope that we will be able to reduce imports from outside Mizoram in the long run. We have firmly believed that, the proposed unit shall be a profitable and a sustainable one.

SUCCESS STORY

Below are the highlights of the success story of the company or the promoters:

  1. Winner of ‘Mizoram Rahbi 2nd Micro start up Capital Competition 2018’. It is a grand competition organized by Govt of Mizoram to pick up prospective business firm and innovators.
  2. Winner of National Entrepreneurship Award 2018 (A1 category)
  3. Motivational speaker in various events organized by Govt and institutions in Mizoram.
  4. Revenue gone up from about Rs 1,25,000.00 to the tune of Rs 3,00,000.00 per month.

At present the plant processed about 270 kg meat weekly which is still much less the market demand.

The company has a vision to start exclusive retail outlet stores across the state, selling its products and meeting the demand of processed meat, locally. The company wants to prove that even the remote areas of the country also have access to healthy, fresh and well-priced processed meat products, which are at par, if not superior to the products available in the urban markets.
